Research Links

The following list is some of the useful websites that I have found that offer wonderful information on a variety of topics and time periods.  The list will expand as more websites are found.

BYZANTINE

The Byzantine Legacy.  A collection of links to various museums who are showcasing their exhibits of Byzantine artwork.  Museums include the Metropolitan Museum of Art, The British Museum, the Louvre, and many others.  The websites contain images of jewelry, religious artifacts, and other items.  Click "Art" at the top of the page and scroll down to the various museums to explore what they have.  A wonderful way to be inspired for many topics.

ROMAN

Peuce (Institutul DeCercetari Eco-Muzeal).  Peuce is an annual publication from the ICEM with a variety of articles written by experts and specialists that are recognized both at home and abroad by major contributions in the fields of Archaeology and History.  The information covers a wide spectrum of Roman history alongside other topics of the Ancient World.

While the site is in Romanian, the vast majority of the articles are written in English, and Google Translate does its work very well with this website.  Access to the journal content is free without charge or fees.  Users can read, download, copy, distribute, print, and post links to the full text of articles without asking permission from the editors or authors.

MIDDLE EASTERN

The Topeki Palace Museum.  Online repository of Early Persian art to Ottoman Turkish works.  A good website that has good pictorial information on material culture.  The website is in English and very easy to navigate.
